Plaster News

Thank you for all your kindness and your sweet messages about my health. I really appreciate it.

Yesterday it was not so much good news for me, they are considering an operation which really devastated me and I felt super depressed. I sent tonnes of texts of my phone, to all my family and friends, to feel better. Some made a valid point - that the last plaster I had could not be right if much improvement had not been made.

I am not in a Walking boot until my next appointment. It is a bit like a space boot. lol. So will have to see what happens

Odds & Soxlets

Crikey is it Tuesday already! Did you all have a great bank holiday or like me was indoors (not because of a broken foot) but because of the weather! Can we please have some sunshine, I am in denial I do not want any winter yet. Just a little sunshine please?

I have my appointment later today, will let you know what happens. Hopefully it is good news. The foot feels a lot better and it is not as swelled up as anymore. I am more able.

Todays card shows how to combine any of Erica's range with your own cardstock and items. I have used layers, cuttlebug, embossing folders, hemp cord. Buttons. I have truly enjoyed making this card. If anyone is interested there is a range of items in my Etsy shop. I hope that you will enjoy. Links to items used are in the product section below.

Penny Black Monday Week 5

Today is another day, and I hope all in the UK have had a lovely bank holiday weekend. Tomorrow is back to work for the most of us, not me - I have another day holiday BUT will spend a portion of my time at the hospital tomorrow, and will see what fate brings me.

It took me a while to decide what card I was going to post today here. But in the end I have gone with this bookmark! My favourite new item to make. I will next be trying gift tags, I think. I really need to give crotchet some time to learn and conquer! I have learnt that my sister in laws mother, knows crotchet. Wow! Someone who I can learn from, meanwhile I have some you tube videos to look at and hopefully that will help. I just can not seem to get past the first row.

Forever Friends Sunday Week 23

Thank you for all your lovely comments. You are all so kind.

I am excited and nervous for my next appointment. Another plaster or something else... Let's see what happens.

Last week,  I delayed the post in hope that I would finish of my current card but did not manage to finish on time. I have good news - I managed to finish of 3. However as I showed last week an Easter card, I wanted to show the other card I made on this. A variation of last weeks card and inspired by Clare Curd

Me To You Saturdays Week 5

I just wanted to say thank you to all the kind folk out there, and for all your lovely comments yesterday. They were really nice and appreciated. I thought maybe I am doing something wrong! They really meant a lot to me, you are all so kind. Whilst I appreciate that a lot of people will just look at the cards, a blog which is more about the person behind the cards means more to me.

Here is another Me to you card, another variation on last weeks card. I need to get Me to you inspired, and start creating more Me to you cards. I have so much to do and no idea, when I am going to be fit to do it all in. I really want to learn crotchet, and making it a task today to start!

A variation on last weeks card, in different colours. I hope you like it. I have linked the products up to where you can purchase them from, if you like them.

Comment Left On My Blog: Your thoughts please

This is my second post for today, scroll down to see the card.

Below in bold is a comment that was posted. I chose to post an update with regards to my plaster, as people leave me messages and email asking me how I am.

Second of all, this is my blog, not just about card making but for anything I want to post on here. If you only come for the pictures of card to save to your pc and then copy to make yourself, and take credit. Go and learn card making - its about being individual and making your own cards. Not copying.

I wanted to add some light heartness to my blog, and some fun and a different slant to blogging. Rather than the run of the mill, here is my card, i used x products to make this card and I am entering this into x amount of challenges. I want my blog to stand out.

This is the comment that was left:
Sue Seyer said...
Hiyas Sarpreet. Does this have any relevance to card making, or is there any interest that it might hold for any of your readers? Probably not. Keep on-topic or we will go elsewhere.
Hugs,
Sue

User left name but no link or email address. Typical. I nearly chose not to publish the comment. But wanted your thoughts on the comment.

Apologies for my rant - but I work hard on my craft and my blog. And I will not be posting cards every day of the week. This is currently not possible due to my current Health and being a full time carer for my mother. I will post when I can, and what I am able to do so. Thanks.

Another A5 Decoupage Card

Just a quick post to show you another Born to Shop Bubbles demo card made last year using the decoupage kit. I used the fab decoupage kit up, and then won another through Blog Candy on Clare Curds Blog! So I can recreate some of my favourites from last year! I am looking forward to do that, when I have a little time. I am trying so many new things. I hope it pays off, I am really working hard and trying so much stuff.

Wild Rose Studio Football Lad Stamp Spotlight

I have created a few cards using this gorgeous Football Lad stamp from Wild Rose Studio. In comparison to Docrafts / Trimcrafts yes Wild Rose Studio stamps are more expensive on an individual basis. However, you are getting high quality designs made from high quality, designed to last. And they are definitely worth their money. Wild Rose Studio also have set of stamps. There are also other brands such as Hero Arts and Penny Black, which are more expensive, but again their designs are stunning and have endless possibilities.

Wild Rose Studio has an official site with projects to inspire you with their range of stamps. Here is a card I made using this stamp. For a while, I am going to show you cards I have made using this stamp and then the next stamp I will spotlight is Mia in Kimono which has been very popular and constantly selling out in the shops. And i love it! I have so many ideas.

Also, I will link up to the stamps and papers to the site where I often purchase my Wild Rose Studio goodies from. There are also available at Kims Craft. If you want to see other projects I have made, do not forget to click on the labels at the end of the post, this will show you all the projects made using that particular product.

Plaster Update - How to make life easier in a plaster...

All my posts have been written whilst in Bed, and scheduled for the following day.  My foot is still in plaster  and I have still been keeping to the black one.  However for the last week it has been hurting even more.  I went to the doctor last night they say it is a good thing as it shows it is healing or trying to join again!!! I have my hospital appointment next week, will see how I go from there.

How to make life easier in a plaster:
1. Marry someone rich who will hire a maid to take care of you.
2. Win the lottery and hire someone to look after you

However if you are like me, and the above is not possible. Then there are stuff you can buy to help you. Not overly expensive, but are worth it if you can afford it.

I wanted to tell you all about a site a colleague at work told me about as she had been through a broken bone.  One of the hardest things is having a bath as you can not get it wet. The hospital advised bin bags, and pillow cases. Which is hard enough to do. However my colleague told me about limbo products which I got and is great, a real shower in such a long time! it felt amazing.

Click here to be taken to see the particular range of products for cast. However do look through the entire site, there are so much there for people in my position! Also for other shower or bath aids take a look here

Odds & Soxlets

Hi, yes there was no Odds & Soxlets card from me last week as I have said previously my cards can only come on days when I am physically able to do so due to my broken foot still being in plaster! :(

Today I have a new technique to share with you. These type of cards you may have seen in my shop. I sketch an image, put it under acetate and do an outline then paint it in with a mixture of various paints. Here I have resized the Toots image, and followed this technique.

Sorry for the picture being this way, it is the only way I could take the picture and stop the reflection on the acetate. Also I covered the aperture with grey carstock, sanded it with the coordinations sand it gadget and used the dust buddy to clear the dust of. Two very good tools that I picked up from Create and Craft.

Plaster came off then...

My plaster came off for only an hour, then it went back on! My bone is showing that is has been healing but not fully healed and it was quiet painful to touch. So the plaster is back on for another 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!! I am really disappointed. However it is for the best. I was previously advised to put no weight on it, now I have been advised to walk a bit more normally on it.

I am totally disappointed and upset. Oh well. I tell you one thing though, when the doctor touched my toes and moved them about - the pain was unbearable!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was literally crying.

I did some sulking and crying, had some chocolate, some samosas and milkshake from Macdonalds. Then went home and went to sleep after taking some painkillers.

I was looking forward to it coming off, however at least I got to wash it! I said to the nurse, I know this may sound like an odd request but my leg has been plaster for four weeks, I would like to wash it. I have bought some stuff with me. The nurse was nice enough, she got me some lovely hot water, i used my bath stuff and washed my leg. And the warmness of the water and the bath stuff, made it feel very nice.

I can not afford not to do anymore for my craft, and shop and craft events. So with some help later this weekend, I will be arranging my stuff in the room and so at least I can still get back to card making.

EDIT: Now I am prepared that this plaster may be on for longer, I realise that these days where I have commited myself to making certain cards using products from a certain brand, this may not be possible for much longer. I have some cards I made I can still show you, but I will run out of the cards and my crafting pace is a lot slower.

Odds & Soxlets Tuesdays

Hi there, and welcome to Odds & Soxlets Tuesdays. Courtesy of me.

I am jumping for joy, today my plaster comes off and they next tell me what is in store. :)

As a Member of the DT, I hope to bring you something inspirational each week from Erica's beautiful range of products and digi stamps available to purchase here.

I was inspired by Denise Marzec and her beautiful bookmark corners, that I gave them a go. And I have become hooked! I can not help it. I have made a few of these. Not so easy as they look - especially the back part - precision is the key. But I am getting better. I hope you like this one.

Forever Friends Sunday Week 20

2 days to go until my plaster is off... Well they will do more tests, then decide.

Welcome to another week of Forever Friends Sunday, Week 20. Have I really been doing this for 20 weeks. This is an A6 card blank, inspired by Clare Curd. Next week I hope to get back to my original designs and crating the designs I have come up with whilst being in bed.

This is using a sticker, Scribbly flower stamp, distress inks and one of the Forever Friends Paper Packs. Not sure which anymore, unless i dig around, but can not do that at the moment.

I do not mind anyone joining me on my Forever Friends Sunday or any of the product days, please leave a comment here so I can come and look at your work to. And I can leave a link in the original post, so people can come and look at your work too. However it is just for fun at the moment. I will start prices soon

Me To You Bookmark Corner

To coordinate with last weeks card, here is a bookmark corner. I have enjoyed making a few of these. I hope you enjoy these too. It is nice to mke something different other than cards. I will always love card making, and still do, but now that I have tried something different I will continue to do so. Its great to learn something new, and have a variety in my shops.

I agree some of the stamp sizes may not be ideal, but they can always be used for different things like here. A Bookmark. Or different layouts which require smaller images. I also am loving the Me to you CD, which has the images in colour and outline, so you can resize to any size you require to colour. I have found when printing from the CD, for my printer I have to leave the images over night for the ink to cure and to stop it from bleeding.

A5 Born To Shop Demo Card

4 Days to go until my plaster is off...

This time I am showing Born To Shop Decoupage Demo Card. I used the inspiration from the television shows. The Decoupage packs are suited to A5 cards, however as I will show later you can use them on other card blanks sizes and you do not have to use all the layers on a single card. You can spread them out and be economical.

Plaster Confusion

My appointment card said today was the day the plaster would come off. However on ringing the hospital to check the time as I lost my card, they told me there was no such appointment!!!!!!!! Feeling rather frustrated. I then asked to check if there was any appointment. They then told me that the appointment was for the 9th August 9am. I suppose with all the advise I had, 4 weeks in the plaster is the best. But I was kinda hoping it came off and i can get back to some degree of normality.

So from today I am on the countdown, until my plaster is off. 7 Days to go...
